Ukraine will not restrict wheat exports in MY 2025/26
Ukraine does not plan to impose restrictions on wheat exports in the 2025/26 season, Deputy Economy Minister Taras Vysotsky told Reuters. The decision comes amid a high harvest and lower export volumes at the start of the current season.
According to the official, the total wheat harvest in Ukraine is expected to reach around 23 million tonnes, with exports projected at approximately 17 million tonnes. By comparison, in 2024, Ukraine harvested 22.6 million tonnes of wheat and exported 15.7 million tonnes.
Economy Ministry data show that, as of now, Ukraine has exported 6.8 million tonnes of wheat, compared with 8.6 million tonnes during the same period last season. Vysotsky noted that these figures allow the country to keep its international sales unrestricted.
Ukraine remains one of the world’s leading wheat producers and exporters, while past export restrictions were implemented to prevent domestic bread prices from rising. This year’s policy enables the country to maintain price stability while meeting global market demand.
Experts highlight that the high harvest and slower export pace at the beginning of the season create favorable conditions for uninterrupted grain shipments abroad, reinforcing Ukraine’s reputation as a reliable wheat supplier.
