Ukraine. Weather conditions were favorable for growth and development of winter crops
Crop condition:
– The weather on December 1-10 was mostly warm for this time of the year, with precipitation in the form of fog, rain and sleet;
– Such weather conditions in this period were favorable for growth and development of winter crops;
– In the south, they continue growing with their condition improving. Winter crops in the rest of the country are in shallow dormancy;
– Winter crops are rated fair to good;
– Air temperatures steadily staying at roughly 0ºC (+5ºC) in the coming weeks will ensure favorable conditions for winter crops to get prepared for winter and undergo vernalization, UkrAgroConsult reports.
Moisture supply:
– Light precipitation in the form of rain and fog occurred in the eastern and southern regions. Snowfall of various intensities was seen in the northern and western regions, resulting in 3-11 cm-thick snow cover in the fields.
Weather forecast for December 14-19:
– 15-35 mm of precipitation is expected in the western regions. The rest of the country will receive 2-15 mm;
– Air temperatures will be -1 …+1°C in the daytime, -1…+1°C at night in the West; +2…+4°C in the daytime, -1…+1°C at night in the North; +2…+4°C in the daytime, -1…+1°C at night in the East; +2…+4°C in the daytime, -1…+1°C at night in Central Ukraine; +2…+4°C in the daytime, -1…+1°C at night in the South.
