Ukraine. Verkhovna Rada allowed the sale of gasoline without the addition of bioethanol until the end of the year
The Verkhovna Rada has postponed the entry into force of the requirement for the mandatory addition of 5% bioethanol to gasoline with an octane rating of less than 98 until January 1, 2026.
The deputies supported the corresponding amendment during the vote on draft law No. 13134, reported Yaroslav Zheleznyak (“Holos”), the first deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy.
“Today, the Rada postponed until January 1, 2026 the entry into force of the requirement for the presence of at least 5% bioethanol in fuel. The corresponding amendment was made to draft law 13134, which was adopted in its entirety,” the deputy wrote.
As reported, the norm for the mandatory addition of 5% bioethanol to gasoline with an octane rating of less than 98, which is sold at Ukrainian gas stations, came into force on May 1.
As a reminder, in June 2024, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that requires the mandatory addition of at least 5% biofuel to gasoline with an octane rating of less than 98 (with the exception of fuel for the needs of the Ministry of Defense, the State Reserve, and for creating minimum reserves of oil and petroleum products). Currently, gasoline with bioethanol is mainly supplied from European refineries.
