Ukraine. Sufficient and optimal soil moisture
The first half of September featured abnormally cold weather for the beginning of the fall. It only became slightly warmer in the following few days.
Precipitation of varying intensity occurred almost all over the country. Sufficient and optimal soil moisture (21-30 mm) was reported in western Ukraine, many parts of Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad regions and single areas in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia regions. The rest of the country had insufficient (11-20 mm) and poor (below 10 mm) amounts of effective moisture for fall planting. Soil drought has begun in Kherson region, UkrAgroConsult reports.
Weather forecast for September 21-26:
– Precipitation (15-35 mm) is expected in the western, northern and eastern regions. Central and southern parts of Ukraine will receive 2-15 mm;
– Air temperatures will be +8 … +18°C in the daytime, +3 … +5°C at night in the West; +8 … +10°C in the daytime, +3… +5°C at night in the North; +10 … +12°C in the daytime, +5 … +7°C at night in the East; +9 … +11°C in the daytime, +3… +5°C at night in Central Ukraine; +11 … +13°C in the daytime, +4 … +6°C at night in the South.
