Ukraine ships almost 240,000 tonnes of wheat to Ethiopia, which is on the verge of famine
Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has shipped 194,400 tonnes of agricultural products to Africa on 8 vessels, including 46,500 tonnes of wheat. In particular, the fourth vessel under the Grain from Ukraine initiative has recently left the port of Chornomorsk. The AMIRA HANA will deliver 30,000 tonnes of wheat to the Port of Djibouti, and from there the Ukrainian grain will be shipped to Ethiopia. In total, Ukraine has already delivered 238,300 tonnes of wheat to Ethiopia, which is on the verge of famine.
The largest amount of agricultural products since the launch of the Grain Initiative went to Africa in October. Back then, 25 vessels were loaded, with a total tonnage of 571,400 tonnes of agricultural products.
Over the past seven days, Ukraine has shipped 871,000 tonnes of agricultural products through the grain corridor. Corn was shipped in the amount of 387,000 tonnes, wheat – 287,000 tonnes. In total, 673 vessels with 18.4 million tonnes of Ukrainian agricultural products have already sailed through the corridor.
Unfortunately, the daily number of vessels leaving Ukrainian ports has not increased over the past week. We are still seeing the lowest number of vessels per day in the almost 6 months of the corridor’s operation – 2-3 vessels per day. The main reason for this is the artificial blocking of the grain initiative by russian inspectors.
