Ukraine. River grain shipments doubled in 2019

The volume of grain cargoes shipped by the Dnipro River in the first ten months of 2019 totaled 3.92 MMT, or 1.9 times more than in the same period last year. Nevertheless, the infrastructure minister stated that the introduction of water transport reform would be a good stimulus for increasing the capabilities of Ukraine’s transport infrastructure and allow tripling river cargo shipments within the coming years. In particular, four sluice gates will be repaired in 2020 in order to ensure safety of navigation, reports UkrAgroConsult.
