Article author:
On February 15, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine published adjusted data on winter crop plantings for the 2021 harvest, which were significantly higher than the latest figures from the Economy Ministry.
Fall planting of rape finished on December 15, 2020 with a result of 881.1 Th ha. The State Statistics Service of Ukraine puts this figure at 1011.9 Th ha, i.e. 130.8 Th ha higher.
UkrAgroConsult has slightly adjusted its forecast for winter rape acreage.
Spring planted acreage is forecast to reach at most 50 Th ha – growers will prefer other more productive crops.
Meanwhile, rapeseed crop will be lower compared to 2020 year, even with a yield recovery.
Consequently, rapeseed export potential as well as domestic crush will decrease in the upcoming season.
