Ukraine. Preparation for planting winter crops is underway
Late August and early September featured variable weather, cooler in the west and warmer in the east. Rain of various intensities fell almost all over the country, locally in the form of downpours with thunderstorm, sometimes with hail. The southern and southeastern regions remained dry.
Farmers have finished harvesting grains and pulses. Preparation for planting winter crops is underway, UkrAgroConsult reports.
Sufficient amounts of effective topsoil moisture (at least 31-40 mm) are available in the fields intended for planting winter crops in most of the western, northern regions and in some parts of Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions.
Moisture supply in the rest of Ukraine was poor (less than 10 mm) and insufficient (11-20 mm). In single areas, the topsoil contained no moisture at all.
