Ukraine plans to expand Food from Ukraine through new agricultural hubs abroad

Ukraine plans to scale up its international Food from Ukraine initiative, moving from individual humanitarian food shipments toward a long-term cooperation model. The new approach envisages the creation of agricultural hubs, development of agri-food infrastructure, local processing and direct supply chains.

Ukraine presented the new model to international partners during its first participation in the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development (DIHAD) conference. Deputy Minister of Economy and Environment Denys Bashlyk said Food from Ukraine is expected to combine food assistance with technology transfer and the development of local food systems.

Since 2022, Ukraine has supplied 336 thsd tons of agricultural products to 19 countries under the Grain from Ukraine and Food from Ukraine programs. The next stage is expected to scale up this experience through new agricultural hubs and broader partnerships with countries receiving Ukrainian products.

The government views this approach not only as a food assistance mechanism but also as an opportunity to build long-term economic ties. Agricultural hubs and local processing are expected to help establish stable supply channels for Ukrainian agricultural products while supporting the development of food infrastructure in partner countries.

The potential to expand the program is underpinned by Ukraine’s significant agricultural production. In 2026, the country’s total export requirement for dry and liquid agricultural cargoes is estimated at 64.39 mln tons, allowing Ukraine to remain an important supplier of food to global markets.
