Ukraine. NBU improves economic growth forecast for 2019
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has improved the forecast for Ukrainian economic growth for 2019 from 2.5% to 3%, NBU Governor Yakiv Smolii stated.
He said this at a press conference on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“We revised our economic growth forecast for this year from 2.5% to 3%, and next year from 2.9% to 3.2%,” Smolii said.
According to him, domestic demand will remain the main driver of economic growth in the coming years. The growth of private consumption will slow down, but it will be still significant due to the increase in real household incomes.
Investments in fixed capital will also provide significant support to the economy, the NBU governor said.
