Ukraine. Kernel increased oilseed processing by almost 30%
Kernel Agro Holding processed 951 thsd tons of oilseeds in Q4 of MY2024, including 17 thsd tonnes of rapeseed. The total processing volume in MY2024 amounted to 3.2 mln tons, according to the company’s operational report.
This is 27% more than in the same period last year, mainly due to the opening of the Starokonstantinovsky oil extraction plant.
Sales of sunseed oil in April-June 2024 increased by only 1% compared to the previous quarter to 384 thsd tons, including 20 thsd tons of bottled sunflower oil.
The volume of grain exports from Ukraine in the last quarter of the fiscal year amounted to 1.6 mln tons. This is a 14% decrease compared to the previous quarter, but a 2.6-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
For the whole season, Kernel exported 5.5 mln tons, up 47% year-on-year.
The throughput capacity of the company’s export terminal in April-June 2024 decreased by 8% to 2.3 million tons, reflecting a slowdown in grain exports. For the whole of MY2024, Kernel transshipped 6.7 mln tons of grain, sunflower oil and meal through its terminals, up 51% year-on-year. This growth was driven by the resumption of export routes through deep-water ports.

According to the company, critically high temperatures and prolonged lack of precipitation negatively affected the yield potential of spring crops in the fields, in particular soybeans and, to a lesser extent, corn.
