Ukraine increased export of agricultural products: reasons
In the first nine months of 2024, the volume of exports of Ukrainian agricultural products increased by more than a quarter – by 9.9 million tons, the State Customs Service of Ukraine reported.
In just three quarters of 2024, Ukraine managed to export 48.9 million tons of agricultural products worth $10.5 billion. It was possible to increase the export of agricultural products thanks to the restoration of sea communication. 89% of the total volume of exports was carried out by sea transport.
9% of agricultural products were exported using railway transport. 2% were transported by road transport. The reverse situation occurred in the import of agricultural products — 80% of the imported agricultural products entered Ukraine by road transport. The main reason for this is that the products were imported from European countries.
In the first nine months of 2024, the main group of exported agricultural goods was grain crops. During this time, 42.3 million tons of agricultural products worth $7.1 billion were exported. A significant share of the products of the agro-food complex exported were seeds and fruits of oil plants – 5 million tons.
It should be noted that the export of agricultural products is growing even though the Russians are trying to destroy the port infrastructure of Ukraine.
