Ukraine has already sown more than 10 million hectares of the 13 planned
During a government meeting, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukrainian farmers have already sown more than 10 million hectares of the 13 planned. This fully satisfies the domestic demand of our market and leaves significant room for exports and, accordingly, support for the economy.
These volumes fully satisfy the domestic demand of the Ukrainian market. In addition, a significant portion of the production can be exported, which will help support the economy.
Mr. Shmyhal emphasized that the work on land demining, which has been identified as one of the key priorities for this year, is also ongoing. Mine clearance of agricultural land makes it possible to conduct a sowing campaign there. This is especially true for the frontline regions.
The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine has established a special body responsible for demining. So far, 110,000 hectares have been surveyed and more than 600,000 explosive devices have been found.
As of May 19, Ukrainian farmers have already sown more than 4 million 693 thousand hectares of spring grains and legumes in the government-controlled areas.
On March 21, Ukraine approved an action plan to clear agricultural land for the sowing campaign.
About 470,000 hectares of agricultural land in Dnipropetrovs’k, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv and Cherkasy regions need to be surveyed.
