Ukraine has already sown 3.3 million hectares of sunflower

Agrarians of Ukraine, in spite of everything, carry out sowing. In general, almost 90% of the projected spring crops of the early group of areas have already been sown. In Volyn, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk regions, 10-15% more spring wheat was sown than last year.

According to the operative data of structural subdivisions of regional state administrations, sowing of spring crops is carried out by 23 regions of Ukraine, except for Luhansk, where fighting is taking place practically on the whole territory.

Thus, as of May 12, all categories of farms were sown:

  • spring wheat 187.5 thousand hectares (forecast for 2022 189.6 thousand hectares), (2021 192.1 thousand hectares);
  • spring barley 918.8 thousand hectares (forecast 2022 1,023.9 ​​thousand hectares), (2021 1,337 thousand hectares);
  • spring rape 26.7 thousand hectares (forecast for 2022 29.8 thousand hectares), (2021 33.2 thousand hectares);
  • oats 156.7 thousand hectares (forecast for 2022 163.6 thousand hectares), (2021 177.9 thousand hectares);
  • peas 123.9 thousand hectares (forecast for 2022 145.7 thousand hectares) (2021 for 242.1 thousand hectares);
  • buckwheat 12.2 thousand hectares (forecast 2022 81.6 thousand hectares), (2021 84.0 thousand hectares);
  • millet 22.5 thousand hectares (forecast for 2022 62.3 thousand hectares), (2021 78.1 thousand hectares);
  • corn 3 238.5 thousand hectares (forecast 2022 4 854.1 thousand hectares), (2021 5 474.8 thousand hectares);
  • sugar beets 181.4 thousand hectares (forecast of 2022 206.9 thousand hectares), (2021 224.7 thousand hectares);
  • sunflower 3,290.6 thousand hectares (forecast 2022 4,934.8 thousand hectares), (2021 6,509.7 thousand hectares);
  • soybeans 728.6 thousand hectares (forecast for 2022 1,253.4 thousand hectares), (2021 1,279.6 thousand hectares);
  • potatoes 1,013.8 thousand hectares (forecast for 2022 1,185.4 thousand hectares) (2021 1,283.1 thousand hectares).

Farmers continue to apply fertilizers and crop protection.

According to the State Statistics Service, sowing of winter crops for grain for the 2022 harvest was carried out on an area of ​​7.6 million hectares, which is 0.3 million hectares less than in 2021, including:

  • 6.5 million hectares of winter wheat and triticale were sown, which is 0.3 million hectares less than in 2021, 109 thousand hectares of rye were sown, or 63 thousand hectares less,
  • 969 million hectares of barley were sown, which is 163 thousand hectares less.

In addition, winter rapeseed was sown on an area of ​​1,414,000 hectares, which is 442,000 hectares more than in 2021.
