Ukraine has 4 million tons of sunseed left by the end of the processing season
After a certain decline in sunflower acreage in Ukraine, the planted areas under sunflower began to recover, primarily due to wheat, which farmers started to plant less.
This was stated by Julia Garkavenko, Head of Analytical Department at UkrAgroConsult, at the Black Sea Grain. Kyiv 2024 conference.
According to her, Ukraine remains a leader in supplying sunflower oil and meal to the global market. But to return to the pre-war level, processing companies need raw materials.
“According to our estimates, if we take the harvest of 14 mln tons, only 4 mln tons of sunseed remain on the Ukrainian market, and there are still five months of work ahead. If we estimate the harvest stocks, we have only 30% of sunflower left,” says Julia Garkavenko.
