Ukraine. Government authorized for price regulation of socially important products — Economy Ministry
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Parliament) has adopted a law providing for the Government to regulate the prices for socially important goods: foodstuffs and medication.
"We are constantly working to ensure that price stability for socially important commodity groups is maintained. We are planning and working to introduce a softer instrument of regulation, namely at the moment it is 10 goods that are important for every citizen and household," commented the Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Igor Petrashko.
According to him, at the moment these measures are sufficient for maintaining price stability and for the prices to remain affordable to people.
The minister added that there is no shortage of food products, all products are available in stores. In his opinion, this has been achieved through daily monitoring and active dialogue between the Government and the Economy Ministry with producers, retailers and shops.
As a reminder, the following products are subject to state regulation: buckwheat groats, sugar, wheat flour, domestic pasta, 2.5% milk, rye-wheat bread, category 1 chicken eggs, chicken carcase, 72.5% butter and still mineral water.
