Ukraine. Farmers continues pre-plant tillage for the 2022 crop
Following a long period of dry, hot weather, air temperatures gradually decreased last week. Fair weather with some clouds gave way to dull one with rain of various intensities. The weather conditions were fair for late crops to complete the growing season. Farmers continue pre-plant tillage for the 2022 crop, UkrAgroConsult reports.
On August 11-20, precipitation in the eastern, central and southern regions was at most 0.1-1 mm (1-7% of its normal ten-day amount), while the north received 4-10 mm (33-99% of normal). Some parts of the northern, southwestern and southern regions got 15-24 mm. The soil moisture improvement spurred planting of winter rape, whose optimal planting period expires on September 10 in the Forest and Forest-Steppe zones and on September 15 in the Steppe zone.
Weather forecast for August 31-September 5:
– Precipitation (15-35 mm) is expected in the western regions. The northern, central and southern regions will receive 5-15 mm, while the east will get 2-5 mm;
