Ukraine faces difficult negotiations with the EU to lift restrictions on the export of agricultural products
With the new harvest, the public reasons why Eastern European countries have imposed restrictions on the export of Ukrainian grain will increase. And Ukraine is waiting for difficult negotiations with the EU to change the situation with the export ban.
About this in an interview with Business.Censor told the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Nicholas Solskyy.
“We need to explain that the new grain is not the main reason for lower prices. Now there are difficult negotiations and there will be more, but what will happen after June 5, I can’t say. Now they are making public statements that they would like to extend the restrictions,” said Solskyy.
He added that negotiations with Europe will also take place in the context of Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
“You have to accept that this is true, in the EU, everyone is trying to defend their own as much as possible. This is how the political system works in them, the democratic system works this way, they watch how the voter reacts. Always the result of negotiations in 90% of cases is a compromise of something. Our experience is evidence that we are close to Europe. I would think it should be perceived that way. And not to be offended,” said the minister.
Mykola Solskyy noted that both the processing industry and logistics of these five Eastern European countries, which imposed restrictions on the export of agricultural products from Ukraine, earned good money on Ukrainian grain.
