Ukraine. Exports of oilseeds through Odesa ports amount to about 75%-80%
Exports of oilseeds through the ports of Odesa are now about 75%-80%, while before the full-scale invasion this figure was about 90%. This was stated by Stepan Kapshuk, CEO of the Ukroliyaprom Association.
“As soon as the ports of Odesa were opened, this percentage reached 75%-80%, and before the war it was 90%,” Kapshuk said.
He noted that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, when the ports were blocked, it was a real collapse for the industry, as Ukrzaliznytsia took over about 35% of such transportation, and road transport about 20%. At the same time, logistics costs increased by about three to four times, as it cost about 353 euros to deliver 1 ton of oil to Europe.
Mr. Kapshuk reminded that 95% of the oil produced in Ukraine is exported to more than 100 countries, and Ukraine is the world’s leading supplier of oil. Ukraine exports most of its oil to Europe, and a little less to India, China, and African countries.
As reported, in 2023, the gross production of grains and oilseeds amounted to about 82 million tons, of which more than 60 million tons were grains and about 22 million tons were oilseeds.
