Despite the war, Ukraine is an exporter of 5.5% of the world’s wheat reserves. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval said during the 10th anniversary international conference “Bread of the World 2024” held in Germany that today Ukraine’s food security is also the food security of the world. Ukraine supplies food to 600 million people worldwide.

“There is a well-known Ukrainian proverb ‘Bread is the head of everything’. It reflects the centuries-old wisdom of our people. After all, due to famines, wars and other hardships, Ukrainians know the value of bread. In Ukraine, they say that if there is bread, there will be peace and a happy, healthy life in the country. That is why Ukrainians, despite the war, show by all their actions that they have not stopped, they continue to sow and harvest. Ukrainians know that they have an important mission to ensure food security, not only internally but also externally,” Vitaliy Koval said.

As part of the conference, Vitalii Koval met with German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Jem Ozdemir and Minister of Regional Development and Agriculture of the Republic of Estonia Piret Hartman.

During the bilateral meetings, the parties discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector, in particular, the implementation of the humanitarian initiative “Grain from Ukraine”.
