Ukraine does not claim the money received by Polish or Hungarian farmers – Kachka
Ukrainian farmers do not claim the subsidies that farmers in the European Union receive. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka at the 10th Deloitte Forum “Conductor of Change”.
“As for the agrarian woman, we do not claim the money that Polish or Hungarian farmers receive. We do not pose a threat to them. Ukrainian agrarian woman in a broad sense is an instrument for the salvation and development of the European agricultural sector. We have a completely different role. And the task of Ukraine and the European Union is to fit all this into the general architecture,” he said.
Kachka added that if it is done correctly, then with Ukraine’s accession to the European Union “we will together be the most powerful player in global markets”.
According to him, for many industries in the next few years, the issue of rethinking their business strategies and realizing that they are competitive, even applying European rules, will be relevant.
“When we concluded a free trade agreement [with the EU], dairy producers said: you can conclude anything. We don’t care. We have Russia, it eats everything, any cheese, of any quality. We have all the certificates there, we will only sell there anyway. And when 2014 happened and Russia blocked everything, the same producers sat in a committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and said: why are the government and the Rada delaying the approval of all the necessary laws on food safety, we have already concluded all the contracts. And it was a paradox,” Kachka noted.
