Ukraine can create a stable financial market for corn in the EU
The Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) has proposed to the European Commission to include Ukrainian corn in the Euronext European stock exchange.
This was stated by the President of the Ukrainian Grain Association Mykola Gorbachev during the BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV conference.
“Everyone who is involved in trading knows that wheat quotations are relevant on the European stock exchange Euronext, while corn quotations are not. This is because the exchange is not filled with this crop, and there is not so much supply of corn from farmers. Europe imports more than 20 million tons of corn annually. And it is clear that it is impossible to fill this deficit on the exchange,” said Mr. Gorbachev.
He believes that even without joining the EU, Ukraine could create a stable financial market for corn.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
