Ukraine begins milk powder exports to Algeria via Romania’s Constanța port
The first container of Ukrainian-produced milk powder has arrived in Algeria, marking an important step in expanding the geographical reach of Ukraine’s dairy exports. The shipment was dispatched through Romania’s port of Constanța using a Ukrainian veterinary certificate.
The shipment followed negotiations between a Ukrainian delegation and Algerian representatives during a business visit in April 2026. The two sides agreed on technical arrangements for transporting milk powder through Romania and shipping it to Algeria under Ukrainian veterinary documentation.
Using the port of Constanța made it possible to organize Ukrainian dairy exports through an alternative maritime route. This logistics arrangement is particularly important amid restrictions and risks affecting Black Sea shipping and could be used for further deliveries to North African markets.
Ukraine’s State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection continues to cooperate with Algeria’s competent authorities on veterinary requirements and expanding trade in products of animal origin.
