Ukraine becomes largest buyer of Polish fertilizers
Ukraine became the largest importer of Polish mineral fertilizers in 2025, purchasing 784 thsd tons. The Ukrainian market accounted for around 25% of Poland’s total fertilizer exports, with Ukraine remaining the leading foreign buyer for several consecutive years.
Germany was the second-largest destination, importing 696 thsd tons of Polish fertilizers. It was followed by the Czech Republic with 376 thsd tons, the UK with 198 thsd tons and Slovakia with 142 thsd tons. Overall, Poland exported fertilizers to more than 100 countries in 2025.
Poland’s mineral fertilizer exports reached a record 3.13 mln tons in 2025, up from 2.68 mln tons in 2024. This represents an increase of around 17% year-on-year. The five largest markets accounted for approximately 70% of total exports.
Single-nutrient nitrogen fertilizers dominated Polish shipments abroad, with exports reaching 2.29 mln tons. Another 655 thsd tons were accounted for by compound mineral fertilizers.
At the same time, Ukraine’s share of Polish fertilizer exports has gradually declined as Poland expanded its export geography. Ukraine accounted for 33.8% of shipments in 2023, 25.4% in 2024 and 25% in 2025. Nevertheless, Ukraine remained the largest individual buyer of Polish fertilizers.
