Ukraine and Switzerland will help Syria with food, – Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine, together with Switzerland, will supply food to the Syrian people to stabilize the situation “after Russia in Syria.” He said this in a video address in the evening.
“Together we can help stabilize Syria. I have offered Switzerland to join the supply of food to Syria. Ukrainian food and financial participation of Switzerland – together with our other partners in this humanitarian program – is something that can help the people of Syria to establish a normal life after the war and, importantly, after Russia in Syria.
Where Russia leaves ruins, we, together with the world, can restore normal life. I am sure it will be the same on our land,” the head of state emphasized.
Zelenskyy also said that in a conversation with Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter, they discussed the joint organization of the first Peace Summit and the preparation of a bilateral meeting.
As reported, in December 2024, Ukraine sent 21 trucks with 500 tons of wheat flour to Syria as part of the Grain from Ukraine program with the assistance of the UN World Food Program.
It will be distributed to 33,250 families or 167,000 people. Each package weighs 15 kg and will help feed a family of five for a month.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
