Ukraine and Romania agree to expand transit capacity for Ukrainian cargo

Ukraine and Romania have agreed to strengthen transport cooperation and expand transit capacity for Ukrainian goods. The memorandum provides for further development of border and transport infrastructure between the two countries.

The agreement includes modernization of border crossings and access roads, development of rail connections and simplification of border control procedures. The updated strategy covers 17 border crossings, including 10 new proposals.

The main goal is to increase capacity at the Ukrainian-Romanian border and create more stable and predictable routes for Ukrainian exports to the EU and Romanian ports.

The Romanian route remains one of the key corridors for Ukrainian logistics, including agricultural exports. Development of rail, road and port infrastructure is expected to increase the capacity of alternative export routes.

The next stage will involve implementing infrastructure projects outlined in the memorandum and securing financing. Ukraine and Romania will continue coordinating infrastructure development on both sides of the border.
