According to Oil World, in April 2025, Turkey imported 243 thousand tons of sunflower seeds, which is three times higher than in April last year. The main suppliers were Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, which shipped 90 thousand tons, 89 thousand tons and 59 thousand tons respectively.

In total, in January-April 2025, Turkey imported 639 thousand tons of sunflower seeds, which is significantly higher than 169 thousand tons in the same period in 2024. Romania increased its supply to 291 thousand tons (compared to 35 thousand tons in 2024), Moldova – to 227 thousand tons (56 thousand tons), Bulgaria – to 112 thousand tons (11 thousand tons). In contrast, Ukraine shipped only 1 thousand tons compared to 40 thousand tons last year.

In addition, in April, Turkey sharply increased its soybean imports to 550,000 tons, which allowed it to achieve a record volume of deliveries for January-April 2025 of 1.61 million tons, 20% more than in the previous year. Experts attribute this growth to increased demand for vegetable oils and feed in Turkey, as well as favorable conditions on the global market.
