Turkey has used 63% of its corn import quota

Turkish importers have already utilized 1.888 million tonnes out of a 3 million tonne corn import quota, according to Zerno On-line, citing European traders.

The 3 million tonne quota has been in effect from April 20 to July 31, 2025. Imports under the quota are subject to a 5% tariff, while out-of-quota imports face a significantly higher duty of 130%.

The country is set to begin harvesting its new corn crop in August. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Turkey’s corn production is expected to decline to 7.1 million tonnes in the next season, compared to 7.9 million tonnes this season. Corn imports are projected to remain stable at around 4.8 million tonnes, unchanged from the current season.
