Turkey has set a quota for duty-free imports of 500 thsd tons of corn
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has signed a decree introducing a quota for duty-free imports of 500,000 tons of corn from July 14 to 31, 2025.
The duty on corn imports outside the quota is 130%. In addition, Turkish importers have the right to import corn without paying duty if the products of its processing are then exported.
In August, Turkey will begin harvesting its own corn crop. According to forecasts by the US Department of Agriculture, it will amount to 7.8 million tons (7.1 million tons last season). The US Department of Agriculture estimates the need for corn imports at 2.8 (4.7) million tons.
