Turkey fills 20% of corn import quota
Turkish importers have already used 580.5 thousand tonnes out of the 3 million tonne corn import quota, according to the Zerno On-Line agency citing European traders. The quota for importing 3 million tonnes of corn is valid from April 20 to July 31, 2025.
Corn imports within the quota are subject to a 5% import duty, while shipments outside the quota face a tariff of 130%.
Turkey is expected to begin harvesting its new corn crop in August. In 2025, the country harvested 7.9 million tonnes of corn compared to 6.8 million tonnes in 2024, according to estimates from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
