Turkey allocates import quotas for sunseed and sunflower oil for the beginning of 2025

Turkey has allocated tariff quotas for imports of sunflower seeds and sunflower oil for the period from January 1 to April 30, 2025. The quotas allow importing 1 mln tons of sunflower seeds and 400 thsd tons of sunflower oil.
Sunflower seed imports within the quota will be taxed at 0%, while sunflower oil imports will be taxed at 20%.
The policy is aimed at balancing domestic supplies while supporting local producers during the period. As a reminder, this year, according to a report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS USDA) Turkey is expected to have the lowest sunflower harvest in a decade. FAS lowered the forecast of oilseed production by 300 thsd tons compared to the previous forecast – to 1.25 mln tons.
Earlier it was reported that duties on imports of goods over the quota will be 12% and 20%, respectively.
