U.S. President Donald Trump said he remains optimistic about reaching a deal with Iran but sharply criticized Tehran over reports that it is charging vessels for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that such actions should stop immediately.

Trump also stated that Iran is doing “a very poor job” ensuring the safe flow of oil through the стратегic waterway. According to him, these actions risk undermining trust and complicating ongoing diplomatic efforts.

In an earlier interview with NBC News, Trump described Iranian leaders as potentially more pragmatic than their public statements suggest. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to act with restraint regarding airstrikes in Lebanon, although Israel does not consider them part of any ceasefire framework.

Amid signs of possible negotiations and easing tensions, oil prices declined temporarily, though uncertainty remains high. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Israeli strikes on Lebanon violate agreements and could render negotiations meaningless.

The Strait of Hormuz remains effectively partially closed as shipowners await clear security guarantees. Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei signaled plans to reshape control over the strait and reiterated demands for reparations, casting further doubt on the prospects for a long-term agreement.
