Trump puts Project Freedom on hold to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump announced on his social network Truth Social that he was suspending Project Freedom, which was supposed to ensure safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
The White House president explained that he took this step in view of the position of Pakistan, which acts as a mediator between Washington and Tehran, as well as “incredible military success” and “significant progress towards a full and final agreement with representatives of Iran.”
Trump stressed that the blockade of Iranian ports remains in force, and that the “Freedom” will not operate for only a short period of time, necessary to understand whether the parties can finalize and sign a peace agreement in the near future.
