Truck queues surge at Ukraine’s borders as cargo shifts from blocked Black Sea ports
The disruption of operations at the Greater Odesa ports following Russian attacks is forcing exporters to shift cargo to road transport, significantly increasing pressure on Ukraine’s land border crossings. As of August 6, 4,948 trucks were waiting to leave the country in the eCherha electronic queue system, according to the Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine.
The longest queues have formed on the Polish border, where 4,306 trucks—almost 87% of the total—are currently waiting.
The busiest crossing is Yahodyn–Dorohusk, with 1,357 trucks in line and an estimated waiting time of 6 days and 11 hours.
Other heavily congested border crossings include Shehyni–Medyka, Orlivka–Isaccea on the Romanian border, and Rava-Ruska–Hrebenne. In total, truck queues have been recorded at 38 border checkpoints along Ukraine’s borders with five neighboring countries.
