Truce in the Black Sea does not mean restoration of the Black Sea Grain Initiative
The water truce does not mean the resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, as the Russians claimed. This position was voiced at a briefing by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgiy Tykhyi.
“This has not been discussed, no one has agreed on anything like this. Because, again, you know that Ukraine has been providing maritime transit itself for quite some time,” the official said.
The spokesperson also said that during the talks with the United States in Saudi Arabia, an agreement was reached to ban attacks on civilian shipping and all ports, but this does not apply to Russian warships.
“That is, the movement of Russian warships outside the eastern part of the Black Sea will be considered a violation of these agreements, will be regarded as a violation of the obligations to ensure free navigation in the Black Sea and as a threat to Ukraine’s national security. In this case, Ukraine will have the full right to defend itself,” explained Georgiy Tykhyi.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
