Trade between Ukraine and Azerbaijan grows by 20% this year – Aliyev
Trade turnover between Ukraine and Azerbaijan has increased by 20% in 2019, and both countries are interested in its further growth.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this during a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Baku on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Although the turnover [between Ukraine and Azerbaijan] has increased by 20% this year, we also discuss issues of its further growth," Aliyev said.
He added that Azerbaijani businessmen are interested in developing bilateral cooperation, and expressed hope that today's Ukrainian-Azerbaijani business forum will promote interaction between the states.
According to Aliyev, Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of mutual investment, and this issue was discussed with the Ukrainian president. "There are specific proposals, and we are convinced that they can be implemented in many directions," Aliyev noted.
During the meeting, the parties decided to expand the presence of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in Ukraine.
In turn, Zelensky stressed the need to increase the trade turnover and the presence of Ukrainian business in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani business in Ukraine.
