Thermovstruding as an innovative competitor to traditional grain processing and storage technologies
The main goal of scientifically and practically based innovations is to make important changes in grain harvesting technologies, processing and storing them in elevators, and further processing of grain in feed and food technologies. All this will dramatically reduce the cost of producing the final product of improved quality – the vstrudat. This new grain quality is characterized by biological changes beneficial to human and animal nutrition. For cereals — by the transition of raw starch by explosion into easily digestible sugars and dextrins, for legumes — by thermal disinfection and from harmful inhibitors. As a result, a high-quality product, ready-to-use, or a semi-finished product for a number of technologies is obtained. The main advantages of innovations will be realized when significant changes are made to the technology of harvesting cereals and legumes, processing and storing them in a new type of elevators, and further deep processing of grain for food and feed purposes. Thermovstruding, which is practically unknown in the West, unlike other technologies, can process grain of any humidity at super-high temperatures of the heat carrier and super-short exposure time and, very importantly, any performance of thermovstruder dryers. The payback of the equipment, even in the absence of the task of drying grain, achieved by the quality of compound feeds, did not exceed one to several months. Basic information about scientific research and practical long-term application of the method can be provided. In case of appropriate support, the implementation of the proposed innovations is possible in Ukraine in a relatively short time in several stages.
Stage 1. Equipping for the purpose of demonstration (there is a documentary about the process technology) one of the widely used drum dryers in Ukraine with a thermovstruder module (prefix) and further transition to their mass implementation. The cost of the console and its installation (instead of a drum) does not exceed $ 2 thousand. Documentation for the reconstruction of the AVM-0.65 dryers is available, for other types of drum dryers it is easily reproducible. The new year-round technology is especially effective for farms that raise livestock and poultry and feed them grain, including their own grain. On this basis, new types of mini-elevators and mini-feed mills are being created, which are much more economical, and the payback period will not exceed several months.
Stage 2. Reconstruction of recirculating grain dryers of the chipboard series, which are massively used in Ukraine, and later other types of grain dryers, into thermovstruders. Only partial replacement of equipment is required with the creation of installations, both high—performance (up to 100 t/h of equipment) and accessible to farms or their associations – with a capacity of 10 t/h of equipment. Measures for the reconstruction and commissioning of a thermovstruder can amount to $ 10-30 thousand (experience in the reconstruction of pneumatic gas recirculating grain dryers closest to thermovstruders in chipboard installations in Ukraine is already available). The economic effect of the transition to mass production of thermovstruders can amount to hundreds of millions of dollars.
Stage 3. Creation of autonomous eco-friendly grain dryers – thermovstruders based on available materials, taking into account the experience of their operation. These thermovstruders operate on heat carrier — clean air or high-temperature superheated steam, both independently and in complexes of new elevators and feed mills. They can also be used in field harvesting conditions, giving out a ready-to-use product. The cost of such thermovstruders is approximately $ 20-50 thousand.
At all stages, taking into account the prepared proposals, it is possible to cooperate with Ukrainian and Western firms close in profile. Cooperation with the USAID AGRO program is also possible.
By the way, puddy dryers used in Asian and African countries can also be reconstructed accordingly.
