The area of winter rye in Ukraine is the lowest in the last five years

For the fifth year in a row, the area under winter rye has been declining in Ukraine. For the 2025 harvest, 68.6 thsd hectares of this crop were sown, which is 2.4 times less than in 2021.
This is reported by AgroTimes with reference to the State Statistics Service and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
Thus, over the past five years, the area under winter rye was as follows:
- 2021 – 166.8 thsd hectares;
- 2022 – 108.5 thsd hectares;
- 2023 – 80.4 thsd hectares;
- 2024 – 70.6 thsd hectares;
- 2025 – 68.6 thsd hectares.
Most of the winter rye areas are concentrated in the northern regions:
- Volyn – 13 thsd hectares;
- Rivne region – 12.1 thsd hectares;
- Chernihiv region – 9.6 thsd hectares;
- Zhytomyr region – 7.5 thsd hectares;
- Kyiv region – 7.5 thsd hectares .
