Sunseed prices in Ukraine remain under pressure from falling export prices for sunflower oil
The decline in SFS prices in Ukraine slowed slightly last week, but the gradual decline in export prices for sunflower oil is forcing processors to continue to lower purchase prices for raw materials.
Currently, the prices for sunflower oil delivered to the crushing plant are 25000-26000 UAH/t.
In the near future, export demand for Ukrainian sunseed may increase, as Turkey abolishes the duty on imports of sunflower seeds within the quota (currently 8%) and reduces the duty on imports outside the quota from January 1 to April 30, 2025.
In addition, Ukraine is abolishing the SFS export licensing regime, which will be replaced by a minimum price mechanism. At the same time, the licensing regime remains in place for exports to Bulgaria and 4 other EU countries.
