Sunflower seed prices in Kazakhstan fall nearly 27% in a week
Sunflower seed prices in Kazakhstan fell by 59 thsd tenge/t over the week to 162 thsd tenge/t. This is nearly 27% below the previous level and even below the lower end of the seasonal price range indicated by analysts at 180 thsd tenge/t.
The main pressure on the market is coming from ample sunflower seed supplies. Market participants do not rule out further price declines if large volumes continue to enter the market.
Other oilseeds showed much more stable dynamics. Rapeseed remained at 202 thsd tenge/t, soybeans at 193 thsd tenge/t, while flaxseed rose by 3 thsd tenge/t to 183 thsd tenge/t.
In the grain market, soft wheat prices were mostly stable, although some classes gained 2–3 thsd tenge/t. Durum wheat with 14–15% protein also increased by 3–5 thsd tenge/t.
Meanwhile, lentil prices rose, while yellow peas fell by 10 thsd tenge/t over the week. Among the main crops, the sharpest price correction is currently being seen in the sunflower seed market.
