Sunflower oil exports from Moldova to the EU increased almost 6 times
From July 2025 to February 2026, Moldova exported 66.8 thousand tons of sunflower oil, almost six times higher than the previous season’s 11.6 tons. According to Agroexpert.md, this growth was made possible by the resumption of domestic processing and increased production volumes.
The average export price also increased by a third to 22.20 lei per kg. The total value of shipments reached 1.484 billion lei (US$85 million).
The main export destinations were EU countries: Italy (30.5 thousand tons), France (11.8 thousand tons), and Romania (10.5 thousand tons). The increase in shipment volumes, as noted, demonstrates the growing demand for Moldovan oil in Europe and the efficiency of the country’s processing plants.
