Sugar production in Ukraine will exceed 1.7 mln tons
Sugar production in Ukraine in the MY 2025/26 as of January 10 reached 1.615 million tons, but the sugar refining season has not been completed.
This was announced by the head of the board of the National Association of Sugar Producers “Ukrtsukor” Yana Kavushevska in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
“According to our expectations, sugar production in the MY 2025/26 will exceed 1.7 million tons,” she said.
Kavushevska clarified that in 2025, sugar beet was grown in Ukraine on 199 thousand hectares, with a yield of 58 tons/hectare, and 11.4 million tons were harvested. 10.8 million tons were received for processing by 27 sugar factories that are part of Ukrtsukr and operated in the MY 2025/26, but the transportation of beets is still ongoing.
The specialist recalled that domestic sugar consumption in Ukraine before the full-scale war was 1.2-1.3 million tons, and now it is 300-400 thousand tons less. Therefore, it is desirable for Ukraine to export at least 700 thousand tons in the current marketing year. The geography of Ukrainian sugar exports in 2026 will most likely not change.
