Sugar beet yields in the western regions of Ukraine have already approached European levels
The yield of sugar beet in the western regions of Ukraine in 2025 approached European indicators. In particular, in the Volyn region it amounted to 77 t/ha, in the Lviv region – 75 t/ha, in the Ternopil region – 73 t/ha, which corresponds to the level of EU countries. This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Ukrtsukor Yana Kavushevska during Sugar World 2026, reports Latifundist.com.
For comparison, the average yield of sugar beet in the European Union is about 69 t/ha, in Poland – 72 t/ha, in Germany – 79 t/ha.
In general, the average yield of sugar beet in Ukraine in 2025 amounted to 58 t/ha, which was a record figure for the country. The average sugar content also remained high – 17.6%, Kavushevska noted.
High yield indicators were also recorded in Khmelnytskyi region – 65 t/ha, Rivne region – 63 t/ha, Zhytomyr and Kyiv – 55 t/ha each, Vinnytsia – 53 t/ha. At the same time, in Poltava and Chernihiv regions, the yield was 45 t/ha each, and the lowest indicators were in Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions – 39 t/ha each.
The leader in sugar content of beets was Poltava region with an indicator of 18.1%, while the average indicator for the country was 17.6%. Sugar yield was 15.17%, which exceeds the level of the previous year.
According to Ukrtsukor, the area under sugar beets in 2025 amounted to 199 thousand hectares, but in 2026 they may decrease to about 170 thousand hectares.
