StoneX raises US corn crop forecast above USDA estimate
Analytical firm StoneX has forecast the 2026 U.S. corn crop at 16.16 bln bushels (about 410.5 mln tons) with an average yield of 184.8 bushels per acre (approximately 11.6 tons/ha). The estimate is higher than the latest forecast issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
For soybeans, StoneX projects production at 4.47 bln bushels (about 121.7 mln tons) with an average yield of 53.0 bushels per acre (approximately 3.56 tons/ha). This estimate is virtually unchanged from the USDA forecast, which also projects a yield of 53.0 bushels per acre.
The USDA’s latest outlook puts the U.S. corn crop at 16.0 bln bushels (about 406.4 mln tons) with an average yield of 183 bushels per acre (approximately 11.5 tons/ha). Soybean production is forecast at 4.475 bln bushels (about 121.8 mln tons) with an average yield of 53.0 bushels per acre (approximately 3.56 tons/ha).
The USDA is scheduled to release its updated production forecasts for corn and soybeans on August 12. The new estimates will be closely watched by global grain and oilseed markets, as the United States remains one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of both crops.
