Spring sowing rates in the US are above average

The pace of sowing corn, soybeans and wheat in the United States is higher than last year and above average, the Zerno On-Line agency reports with reference to the National Agricultural Statistical Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (NASS).
By April 20, American farmers have sowed 12% of the planned area with corn, which is 2 percentage points more than the average for this date over the past five years. Soybeans have been sown on 8% of the area (5% on average over the past five years), and spring wheat – on 17% (12%).
The share of winter wheat crops in excellent and good condition as of April 20 was 45%, which is 2% less than a week earlier and 5% less than a year ago.
