Soybeans have taken a significant place in the development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector
Therefore, despite some reductions in sown areas in previous years, the trend of increasing popularity of this crop will be consolidated in the future.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysotsky during the Soybean Market: Growing. Processing. Trade conference, organized by the Association of Legume and Soybean Producers.
He recalled that the historical record for the soybean harvest was recorded in 2024: then Ukrainian agricultural producers harvested more than 7 million tons of beans. Last year, about 2 million hectares were allocated for soybeans and 5 million tons of beans were harvested from these areas.
“This year it is difficult to make forecasts. Especially now, when macro factors are added to agricultural ones. However, according to our preliminary estimates, there will be no less than 2 million hectares of crops (soybeans, – ed. note),” Taras Vysotsky emphasized, adding that the forecast harvest should also be at the level of 5 million tons.
The government official drew attention to the fact that there is demand for Ukrainian soybeans and processed products from importing countries and within the country. Taking into account expensive logistics, he did not rule out that this year up to 63% of the beans will be processed on the domestic market.
“Our main export destinations are Turkey and the European Union. There is constant stable demand in these markets,” Taras Vysotsky concluded.
