Soybean harvesting nears completion in Ukraine, with production exceeding 3 mln tons
Ukrainian farmers are approaching the completion of the 2026 soybean harvest. As of October 19, soybeans had been harvested from 1.38 mln ha, accounting for 86.1% of the forecast area. Total production reached 3.01 mln tons, with an average yield of 2.18 t/ha.
The highest soybean yield this season was recorded in Vinnytsia region at 2.7 t/ha. Ivano-Frankivsk ranked second with 2.6 t/ha. Average yields in Lviv and Khmelnytskyi regions reached 2.5 t/ha each, while Sumy, Ternopil, and Chernivtsi regions recorded 2.4 t/ha. Overall, farms in western and central Ukraine have demonstrated the strongest yields.
Khmelnytskyi region leads in soybean production, with farmers harvesting 481.5 thsd tons from 90% of the forecast area. Zhytomyr ranks second with 359.9 thsd tons harvested from 89% of the area, followed by Vinnytsia with 274 thsd tons. Ternopil and Kyiv regions are also among the top five producers, with 260.8 thsd tons and 247 thsd tons, respectively.
Soybean harvesting is closest to completion in Vinnytsia and Ternopil regions, where 97% and 95% of the forecast area has been harvested, respectively. Harvesting in Khmelnytskyi has reached 90%, while Zhytomyr and Kyiv regions have completed 89%. Nationwide, around 14% of the soybean area remains unharvested, meaning final production figures may still change.
Regional results indicate significant differences in soybean yields, affecting production volumes across Ukraine. Khmelnytskyi accounts for the largest harvested volume, although its average yield remains below those recorded in Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. The pace of the remaining harvest will depend on weather conditions, while yields from the unharvested area will determine Ukraine’s final soybean production in 2026.
