Sowing season 2025 in Ukraine is 8.7% ahead of last year

As of April 4, Ukraine had sown 926,000 hectares with spring grain and leguminous crops, which is 8.7% more than a year earlier, and had begun sowing sunflower, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported on Friday.

According to the report, 116,500 hectares were sown with wheat (79,800 hectares a week earlier), 551,800 hectares with barley (315,500 hectares), 164,300 hectares with peas (102,900 hectares), and 82,300 hectares with oats (50,700 hectares).

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the leading sowing rates are Odesa region, which sowed spring crops on 92,310 hectares, Ternopil region – 87,400 hectares. ha, Poltava – 83.2 thousand ha, Mykolaiv – 73.6 thousand ha, Vinnytsia – 72.6 thousand ha.

In addition, 33 thousand ha have already been sown with sunflower, 64.8 thousand ha with sugar beets, and 2.6 thousand ha with soybeans.

The ministry recalled that in total, in 2025, it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million ha of spring grain and legume crops, which corresponds to the level of 2024. The main feature of the new season will be an increase in the area under spring wheat by 28%, to 222.8 thousand ha. Such changes in the crop structure correspond to stable demand from processing enterprises and exporters.
