Sowing of winter wheat in Ukraine started later than last year

Sowing of winter grain crops for the 2026 harvest has started in Ukraine. This is according to data from the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.
Last year, sowing of winter grain crops began at the end of August.
In particular, as of September 8, farmers had sown:
- wheat — 39.9 thsd ha;
- barley — 1.1 thsd ha;
- rye — 1.2 thsd ha.
Wheat began to be sown in 8 regions — Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Kherson, Bukovina and Chernihiv regions.
Meanwhile, agricultural producers sowed over 60% of the area — 685.3 thsd ha — with winter rapeseed. Sowing has been completed in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Poltava and Ternopil regions.
