Sowing campaign is coming to an end in Ukraine

As of May 30, 2025, Ukrainian farmers have sown 5.5 mln hectares of spring grain and pulses crops, reaching 97% of the forecasted areas.
Corn dominates the sown area with 3.94 mln ha (98%), followed by barley at 744.4 thsd ha (96%), spring wheat at 217.1 thsd ha (95%), peas at 212.1 thsd ha (98%), and oats at 158.6 thsd ha (98%). Buckwheat covers 66.0 thsd ha (75%), and millet spans 66.1 thsd ha (87%).
Technical crops have been sown across 7.38 million ha (93%), including 4.73 million ha of sunflower (93%) and 2.23 mln ha of soybeans (92%).
Overall, Ukraine plans to sow approximately 5.7 mln ha of spring grain pulses crops in 2025, matching 2024 levels. A key feature of this season is the expansion of spring wheat areas to 227.5 thsd ha, driven by steady demand from processing companies and exporters.
